Don Enriquez Takes a Few Runs
Wade Caldwell - 9/12/2014 6:01 PM CT
Stupidbaker is starting things off slowly with new driver Don Enriquez to get him some important seat time.
The first of two runs was just completed at a speed of around 130 mph. He started the run at the 3 mile and went to through the timed mile at mile 6.
The plan is for one more run today, increasing the length by a mile and picking the speed up a little. More news as we get it.

Standing Water Cancels Speed Week
SCTA — August 9, 2014
"The SCTA Board is currently on the salt, and has determined that the standing water will not dry in time for us to hold our annual Speed Week event. The Board is also discussing the possibility of extending our next event - World Finals (Sep 30 - Oct 3) into a full week of racing as a sort of delayed Speed Week. We Thank You all for your patience and understanding. We look forward to seeing you at our next event."

New Race Trailer in the Work
Paul
Last year we used a car hauler that Alan uses to go to the trade shows and car shows. It wasn't the greatest for working on the salt. This year, we are taking a new trailer that we are setting up specifically for the salt.

Bonneville Salt Flats Resurfaced in Dry Salt Laydown Test
Speedville.com — Greg Jones, June 25, 2014
An estimated 2,000 tons of salt were successfully deposited on the mud surface at the end of the access road to the Bonneville Salt Flats. It was graded and then dried to a hard concrete-like racing surface. Although modest in scope, the project demonstrates that it should be possible to deposit dry salt in targeted areas so as to help preserve this national treasure, the site where land speed records have been set over the past 100 years.

Save the Salt: Trial Dry Salt Laydown
Save the Salt — Ron Main
Laying it down and spreading it out.
Making sure it all comes out.
Hopefully, its the start of things to come
Special Thanks to Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Southern California Timing Association (SCTA), Shelton Salt And Intrepid Potash, Wendover, UT. Without their help this would have not been possible.
Here are a few photos of the resurfacing work that was done on the Salt Flats. Although you can’t tell it from the photos the surface is rock hard - the salt was damp when it was spread and in 2 days you couldn’t sink a pick in it!
