We campaign a highly modified Studebaker that was designed and built from scratch by Alan Johnson and the crew from Johnson’s Hot Rod Shop. The engine was built by Keith Dorton at Automotive Specialists.
The car was first run at Bonneville in 2013. It was our shakedown year and we wanted to test the car and all the systems out, but we were still able to run a 228. We learned a lot – nothing broke and almost everything worked as we expected.
We are currently preparing the car for the upcoming 2014 Speed Week, which is August 9-15, with tech inspection on August 7. This season we are shooting to break the current record in CGCC (Unblown Gas Competition Coupe), which is 265.218 mph. You can follow updates on Facebook or check back here.
